Devotion - The Devil is Powerless!

"All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV)

Everything in the Bible is given by inspiration of God. If you want the truth, all you have to do is read your Bible. Some people like to say, "The Bible isn't the Word of God, it was written by man." The Bible makes no claims to be written by God Himself and yes it was written by man... BUT again it was inspired by God! What is in the Bible is what God wants us to see, the truth.

Studying your Bible is good for a lot of things: It brings you closer to God, it helps us to know Him better, it helps us to find out what we should do in life. The Bible is our guide to get through life in a godly manner. Its not enough to just read the Bible, we have to live it!

There are those out there that seek to deceive us, there are also those out there who are already deceived. Both of these categories of people deceiver and deceived are dangerous to those of us who do not know scripture: The deceivers are purposely trying to deceive you, while the deceived are giving you second-hand information they received from the deceiver! There are a lot of these two types of people out there, so in today's society we need to know the scriptures better than any Christian has ever known them. There are so many false religions, some of which are labeled denominations of Christianity. Sometimes the only difference between these denominations is interpretation of one or two scriptures in the Bible, or a scripture taken completely out of context. For example: There are so many abusive husbands that love to use the scripture about wives obeying their husbands... BUT they leave out the verses about how husbands need to honor their wives as the weaker vessel and love them as Christ loved the church, be willing to die for them like Christ died for the church. I'm not quoting the scriptures word for word here, so you might want to look those up. I've met and heard about so many men doing this, that it was startling. The women went for it, because they only knew half the truth, the half the husband wanted them to know... minus the parts the devil wanted to leave out.

Knowing the scriptures is so important, more so than a lot of people know. I would like to encourage you to get into the Bible, start learning it and learning it well because the more you know, the less power the devil has over you; therefore knowledge is power! If you have the power, then the devil is powerless. Let the devil be powerless over you!
